epic5_irc_client
Epic 5 is a useful old irc client that is still maintained.
You can run 'epic5' from the command line. To log in to SDF's server, for example:
epic5 <your login name> irc.sdf.org
Once you are in, use the basic commands such as /join #sdf to join a room.
To make EPIC5 more useful (their website, https://www.epicsol.org/ is maddeningly *not useful* for navigating the app), it is suggested that you install LiCe
https://lice.muppetz.com/getting-started/
Once you have it install, these are the LICE commands:
/HELP - Gives you an integrated help function /TOG - Change various LiCe settings /MTOG - Change settings relating to messages /WTOG - Change settings relating to Windows /THEME - Change the theme. There are many built into LiCe! /J [channel] - Join a channel /L - Leave a channel /M [nick] - Send [nick] a message [TAB] - Cycle through the last few people to send you a message /SC - List all nicknames on the channel /WI [nick] - Give you the whois information for a nickname /T - Show the topic on a channel. /AR [nick] - Set nickname(s)/word(s) that will be logged/highlighted when said publically. /SB - Show current bans on a channel /GONE [message] - Tell people you<80><99>re away (and set you away on the server) /BACK - Tell people you<80><99>re back (and tells the server you<80><99>re back) /PLAY - Show any messages received while you were away. /UPDATE - Check for updates to LiCe.
Window Navigation
If you want to connect to multiple servers, you need this information:
